I got my start in this hobby on Christmas day 1996, when I unwrapped a Starter Mario Lemieux replica jersey and proceeded to wear it for 72 consecutive hours. After years of wearing it to games, or to play street hockey, or to just root for the Pens from my parents’ living room, it’s gained some marvelous nacho cheese stains and other mysterious bacteria-rich adornments, but that’s what makes it special.

Over the years my interest in collecting slowly gained momentum, until early in 2019 when I stumbled across my first authentic jersey through a local online marketplace. The look and feel of it in my hands triggered something from the past; a reclamation of my childhood dreams that had somehow eluded me for all of these years…

Fast forward to January 2025 and I’m now the proud owner of a Mario Lemieux game worn jersey, something I’d never thought possible. The thrill of owning a piece of Penguins history is something that never wanes each time the mail truck pulls up to my door.
