1994 Pittsburgh Phantoms Jeff Whittle Game Worn Jersey
Worn during the Pittsburgh Phantoms only season, during the summer of 1994. The press photo below shows this jersey with a captain’s C instead of a patch, but the holes of the mesh align exactly, most obviously on the crest, as do the exposed holes on the #10 on the right sleeve. The numbers were screened onto the jersey, so this unique anomaly would be impossible to fabricate.
Hailing from Toronto, Jeff Whittle was fourth on the Phantoms with 39 points (18g+21a) and fifth in penalty minutes with 41. After the Phantoms folded late in 1994, Whittle moved on to the Detroit Motor City Mustangs, adding another 16 points to his RHI career. Additionally, Whittle had a long minor league career, beginning with the Wexford Raiders in 1987-88 and ending with the Detroit Vipers in 1998-99.
