1992-93 Kevin Stevens Game Worn Jersey (set 1)

In 1989, Kevin Stevens was showing signs that he could be a dominant power forward in the league. The following season he exploded for 46 goals and 48 assists, and in 91-92 improved on that with 54 goals and 69 assists, paired with a whopping 254 penalty minutes. At the time it was the most points ever scored by a left winger. The following season, 1992-93 would be another career year for Stevens, as he scored a career high 55 goals and finished with 111 points, which stands today as the 11th best season by a left winger ever, and the 6th highest by an American born player.

However, the 92-93 season would end in disappointment for the Pens, losing to the underdog Islanders in seven games, and tragedy for Stevens, as a hit with defenseman Rich Pilon would knock him unconscious in mid air, allowing his face to strike the ice unimpeded. Stevens would require facial reconstruction surgery, and the painful recovery would accelerate his recreational drug abuse into full-blown addiction, sending his career into a downward spiral. As of 2024, Stevens has been clean for seven years, and does speaking engagements to enlighten younger players. He is part of the Penguins ring of honor for his contributions to the team over ten seasons, and in 2024 was elected to the USA Hockey Hall of Fame.

This jersey was worn for the first half of the 1992-93 season, shows excellent wear, and is matched to several photos, cards, and programs. While wearing the jersey, Stevens racked up 17 goals, 14 assists, and 44 penalty minutes over 20 games.
