Barrasso backstopped the Pens to 226 wins over his twelve-year stint with the team, only recently surpassed by Marc-Andre Fleury’s 375. He is the only goalie to enter the NHL directly from high school, and incredibly won the Calder, Vezina, and Jennings trophies as the leagues best rookie, best goalie, and highest save percentage. Barrasso holds the NHL record for assists with 48, a record that will likely stand for a very long time. Among American born goalies, Barrasso ranks third all time in games played, fourth in wins, and sixth in shutouts… and first in penalty minutes (third among all goalies)! He was inducted into the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023.

Barrasso played 57 games in 1991-92, amassing a 25-22-9 record and an .885 sv% as the Penguins fought through their Stanley Cup hangover. Barrasso faced the 10th most shots in the league, and made the 10th most saves. However, he rose to the occasion in the playoffs, with some sports writers suggesting he may have won the Conn Smythe if not for playing on the same team as Mario Lemieux. When Lemieux went down with a hand injury, Barrasso carried the Penguins, with coach Scotty Bowman saying “Mario got hurt and Tommy won the series for us... he was our savior.” He finished with a 16-5 record, a .907 save percentage, and a 2.28 GAA. Those stats would have earned him a Vezina in the regular season. He won eleven straight games to help the Pens secure their second straight cup, likely earning his Hall of Fame nod at the same time.

This jersey is photo-matched to games against the Flyers, Devils, Canadiens, and Rangers. It features a large repair on the left sleeve, several puck marks, and red paint from a goal post on the back #5. On the left arm, a stick mark protrudes from the top of the #3, allowing for easy photo matching to several photos, videos, cards, etc. Interestingly, the 25th Anniversary patch was not added until October 17th of that year, and the “Badger” Bob Johnson patch was added on November 26th, meaning the jersey had two patches added to it during the season.
